Dear All,
As a resident of Old Town, Swindon and also a member of the local residents’ association PaRa ( Pipers Area Residents Association) I was able to obtain a copy of Swindon Borough Council’s Local Plan 2026, Pre-Submission Document free of charge.
Should you wish to access the Local Plan online please refer to: http://www.swindon.gov.uk/localplan
The plan is out for consultation and the public are asked to submit feedback to SBC forwardplanning@swindon.gov.uk by 6pm February 21st 2013 which will be directed to the Planning Inspectorate to include in his/her overall determination (date tbc).
The plan is short on detail and leaves much open to the interpretation of Swindon Borough Council. It contains no information regarding the input of either Local or Parish Councillors.
This plan will influence Swindon for generations to come and yet the process by which Swindon Borough Council seeks public engagement on this critical document is cumbersome, passive and suggests proscriptive feedback forms which, it has been suggested, are designed to intimidate the public. These feedback forms are not necessary to complete a submission.
The attached submission has been reviewed with other groups across Swindon who are also in the process of submitting their findings for review by the Planning Inspector. I hope that you will find the submission of benefit .
The submission have been organised in sections on separate pages to allow the reader to decide whether they may wish to submit some, all or any of the feedback to forwardplanning@swindon.gov.uk.
Should you wish to use this submission, you need only add the date, your name address and contact details.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope that you will find the submission of benefit.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding this submission.
Regards, Kareen Boyd
