Changes to Leisure Facilities
Possibly one of the best summaries of the concerns about the proposed changes to leisure facilities in Swindon can be found here:
http://www.swindonlink.com/news/swindon-leisure-facilities-in-danger-of-developer-dealings

The council's own brochure advertising the leisure centres is worth looking at Swindon Leisure centres sales brochure.

There was an online questionnaire in leisure and culture sports forum on resident’s current use of the facilities. It remained open until 5pm on 3rd  March.

A Leisure and Culture Commissioning Change Programme

The Council  aims to seek alternative ways to ensure the continued delivery of sustainable Leisure and Culture provision in the Borough.

The Council is looking to have a true consultation on their proposals, to have a look at their ideas, click on 'Leisure and Culture' on the left hand side, and on their website: www.swindon.gov.uk

Draft Swindon Borough Local Plan

Residents of Swindon were asked to respond to the draft local plan by 6pm on the 21st of February. It will be interesting to know what the responses focused on and how the Council responds. There were over 700 responses to the Local Plan. Feedback from the Council due on the 28th of March.

The Local Plan 2026 is available here:

Tree Planting

We were involved in tree and shrub planting on the Evelyn Street embankment.

This happened over 2 days, the 16th/17th of November. On the 16th, pupils from Croft School, their parents, teachers, local residents and Swindon Rangers started the tree planting process which was completed the following Saturday morning.

It was a great success, thanks go to Adrian Downing who organised everything , the Woodland Trust who donated 60 trees, Councillor Nadine Watts and Martin Hambidge of SBC.
